Jessica Lui

Jessica was preparing to move to Hong Kong with her family. They had everything planned – that is, until she started to feel ill. She eventually needed to undergo testing. On November 2013, Jessica was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Despite the challenges of combating this difficult disease, Jessica has remained strong and optimistic.

Jessica’s only hope was to find a matching donor. Unfortunately, her only brother was not a match. Although Jessica wasn’t able to find a stem cell match in her family, she was able to find a matching unrelated donor through Canadian Blood Services Stem Cell and Marrow Network. By August, she needed to undergo strong chemotherapy treatment in order to prepare for the stem cell transplant. Jessica had her transplant on August 12, 2014. She is very grateful for having found a donor and we wish her a smooth recovery!

We would also like to thank Jessica for joining us at the OtherHalf office during our June 2014 press conference. (For more pictures, please see OtherHalf’s photo album here.)

Please support other patients in need. Register as a potential stem cell donor, and you could be the match to save a life like Jessica’s.
